About Joannie Johnson - aka "6foot2"

I am an experienced graphic designer, writer, text editor, photo editor, and website designer. Once I get started on a project, it's hard to tear me away. I enjoy working with website development and management teams as an imaginative and resourceful website designer and content specialist.

Desktop Publishing Background

For eight years I owned and operated a desktop publishing business in Clinton, Iowa, called Words On Wheels DTP. I specialized in designing, editing and publishing newsletters. I earned a BA in graphic design and fine arts at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, and am exhibiting painter.

Artist & Writer

As a child I dreamed of being an artist and writer. I am fortunate to do both in website design. While researching a subject for a new project I pull together information from disparate sources, and then write compelling copy. Next comes developing the layout and style that furthers that communication. I believe that ultimate goal is communication, and favor a clean, uncluttered look.

Collaborator & Team Builder

I love to collaborate and build teams. During my design career I have established two software user groups. In 1991 I started the Clinton Macintosh User Group and was the first manager, publicist, organizer of the group. After moving to Minneapolis in 2001, I started the Minnesota Flash User Group. Once again I was the first manager, recruited the membership and board members, found a place to meet, and made many presentations.

Expertise

Some of my software expertise includes Adobe Creative Suite 5, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS, Quark x-Press, Microsoft Office Suite, MS Word, and MS Excel. I prefer Macintosh computers, but have used Windows and Vista extensively and am comfortable in the PC workplace.
